Job Title:    Social Enterprise Coordinator/Craft Tutor

Hours: 12 hours a week initially – hours will increase depending on progression of business. 

Salary:    £28,200 (pro rata)

 Job Description

 This new position has been created for an inspiring and dynamic individual who

can utilise their entrepreneurial skills to create a successful and thriving Social

Enterprise for adults with learning disabilities and autism. The successful

candidate will have the exciting challenge of inspiring others to be the best they

can be.

Our emphasis will be on Arts and Crafts including mosaic, jewellery, handmade

cards, candles, wellbeing hampers and other original and unique works of art. 

Our most recent project “Go Green Go!” uses mainly recycled items to make

works of art.

The successful applicant will have sales experience and knowledge of a variety of

sales outlets including: Web site, Galleries, craft fayres, shopping centres and

other adventurous ways of selling what we design and make. He/she will also

have the ability to develop the seed of an idea into a thriving business.

 1. Overview

The successful candidate will:

Take our pilot Social Enterprise to a sustainable thriving micro business.

 Establish Go Green Go! Project from start-up phase to online trading.

Create a programme that enables learners to gain new skills and experience to be

able to access employment.

 Lead on marketing and building increased partnership with public, private and

voluntary sector organisations

Review enterprise activity and regularly assess potential for growth and

expansion.

 

2. Product identification and production with people with learning disabilities

 (Recycled material identification- Go Green Go!)

 Identify and make optimum use of recycled materials to create works of art

Ensuring quality of all products for sale

Encourage learners to collect recycled materials to become a supplier for their

own project

3. Marketing & Sales

 In partnership with others at Larches Community to market our Social 

Enterprise, including Go Green Go! merchandise.

Take all available opportunities across Larches activities including Go Green Go!

project to expand and develop sales opportunities

Identify sales opportunities at markets and special events where potential

demand for Go Green Go! merchandise would be high

4. Partnership activity 

Develop in conjunction with learners, staff and volunteers, effective partnerships

with a wide range of sectors, giving priority to activities which match the Larches’

strategic objectives.

 Find opportunities to work with other organisations to increase the charity’s

activity, raise the profile in new locations or to add new enterprise streams

5. Others tasks

Prepare reports and participate in meetings as required.

Work with others to ensure a financially sustainable micro business

Promote and maintain a learner outcome led approach in line with the charity’s

values.

Promote and maintain an active approach to health and safety, in respect of

learners, yourself, colleagues and customers.

Ensure that the charity’s Equality & Diversity Policy is fully implemented at all

times.

Conduct suitable and sufficient risk assessments (including stress assessments)

for new projects and enterprise, record the findings and reduce risk to an

acceptable level.

Keep a track of the monthly income and expenses relating to the project and

present the tracksheet to the bookkeeper and CEO.

The nature of the post is such that it will require a negotiated flexible approach to

be adopted towards the exact hours or days worked each week (providing the

service is maintained and the contractual hours of the post are met).

No job description can cover every issue which may arise. The post holder is

expected to carry out other duties as they arise which are consistent with the

concept of the post.

Volunteers - We are looking for people who have some spare time to organise fund raising events for us. The money we raise goes towards creating opportunities for people with learning disabilities / autism.
